Items Sold and New Item Made This Week

Some of my art sold this week: Baby Love, Homeward Path, and This I Know. The first two on eBay and the second on Etsy. I just opened my etsy account on Saturday and Sunday evening I had my first sale! Wow. That was quick. I posted two new items on Etsy today making a total of nine items. You can find me on http://www.sallylsmith.etsy.com. Look me up.

Above you see the new item I posted today for viewing on my blog titled, "Alone." One tree in a field all alone. It is an Artist Trading Card, 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and made from yarn, fabric, tulle and thread.

New items at end of February

Babys are so adorable (especially mine) but I thought these were so cute I had to make a quilt and an altered art piece.

Two New Works on eBay

This world is chaotic as depicted by the words I used in the Altered Art piece (7" x 9.5"). There is one constant in my world, however--"Jesus Loves Me This I Know." The banner in the little girl's hands say that. I used an old book cover (I always use beat up books), newspaper words, ephemera, an image from my private collection (please, observe copyright rules), matte medium and old tracing paper. I layered the tracing paper over the words with the matte medium giving it an obscure look. I used objects I've found in button boxes (I've been collecting for years and now put to use) and old buttons on a twisted rusty wire hanger.

The other piece is a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" Artist Trading Card (ATC) made with yarn on muslin covered with tulle and embroidered. I love embroidering trees. All are freely done, no set design. I find a picture or pictures I like and go from there. Both pieces are on eBay this week. Here's hoping!

Commissions for a Friend

Around Christmas time I made two clipped fiber art quilts for a friend. She gave them to her husband and son for Christmas. They both measured 9" x 12" and are made from clipped yarn with embroidered detail. They are titled "Mt. Rainier" and "Coast of Washington." It was hard to sell them to her, one--because she was my friend and, two--I wanted to keep them. Oh, well, my first commissions, so I sold them. Both took forever to make because I don't like the color green (only used it for lettering here to match the pictures) nor did I like the subject matter. I'm game for other commissions, however. Someone wants me to do a bi-plane! Not too sure about that one....

Snow and Creativity

It's been snowing since before midnight last night and it is 6:00 PM and still snowing. We enjoyed our snow day inside all day and being there has done wonders for my creative juices. I worked all day on two projects: the violin girl quilt and another altered art piece not ready to show yet. I experimented with new techniques and am eager to see how it turns out. Off to get supper and create some more! Love it!

New Works on eBay

I have a few items to post since it's been a while since I've done so. Enjoy!
