Clipped Yarn Fiber Art Technique

"Almost Dark" is one of my earlier fiber art quilts, one that I repeated in three sizes: post card, ATC and the one featured 9"X 9 ." I start with a piece of muslin and clipped or pulled fibers (usually yarn), and lay out a design background. I cover it with tulle, baste it and quilt it adding hand embroidery for accents. My designs are original and usually inspired by photographs. I know "things under tulle" has been around for a long time, but I haven't seen anything in the last six months like this so I'm thinking it is unique in the yarn placement aspect. I enjoy every design and each is a challenge. Lately I've been making ATC size quilts - 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" but have made quilts as large as 9 1/2" x 12."

New items on eBay

I've entered some new items on eBay today. One ATC quilt (Artist Trading Card, 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"), an Altered Book Cover (11" from top of hanger x 5"), and an Art Quilt(16" from top of hanger x 8"). It is the first time for an Art Quilt like this. I'll see if it draws some interest. I used a lot of my lace stash for it. I went to an estate sale today and bought crocheted doilies, a rhinestone piece, a contemporary tapestry table runner and a couple of old purses. We'll see how I use them or if I use them. It was fun anyway.

Mother-inspired Altered Art

This piece was inspired by my mother, a nurse, author, housewife and life guide (my life). She is pictured in the tree. This piece measures 15" from top of hanger x 6."

Artist Trading Card Reaching Up

This ATC sold on eBay last week. I really enjoyed making it and was inspired to do so because of the ice storms in our area recently. It measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/2."

More Works

I am including more pictures of my works. Let me know what you think, please. I'm open to constructive criticism. New Creation measures 8" from top of hanger x 5 1/4".

I'VE DONE IT!

I've done it! I've just created my first blog. And I don't even know anything (qualified statement) about the computer. Oh well, live and learn. I want to show what I've been doing in the past six-plus months. Even if no one sees these, it will satisfy my desire to display my creations.
This piece is one of my latest works. It is an ATC (Artist Trading Card) measuring 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". This one, however, did not sell on eBay. I'm discouraged. But I'll keep trying anyway. I haven't been at this very long and they say it takes about two years for any business to succeed or fail. We'll see. Thank you, God, for giving me the pleasure of creating. I owe everything to you.
